Passage Matthew Chapter Twenty-Eight

Matthew 28 He is risen
- Mt 28:1- 10 Mary and Mary head to the tomb
  - After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
  - Earthquake – Angel rolled back the stone
    - ²There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.
    - ³His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
    - ⁴The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
  - Angel Meeting
    - ⁵The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
    - ⁶He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
    - ⁷Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
  - Jesus Meeting and Mission
    - ⁹Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. ¹⁰Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

  - ¹²When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, ¹³telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’

  - ¹⁷When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.
- Mt 28:18- 20 All Authority – The Great Commission
  - ¹⁸Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
  - ¹⁹Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
  - ²⁰and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

repeat to yourself, and at each word, enunciate the next word in the sentence starting with the first word…

example:

⁶He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
HE is not here; HE has risen, just as HE said.
He IS NOT here; He has risen, just as He said.
He is not HERE; He has risen, just as He said.
He is not here, HE HAS risen, just as He said.

and so on. This will cause you to look at the verse more intently, and may have you memorize it before your five minutes are done.

  - ⁵⁹The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false testimony against Jesus so they could put Him to death. ⁶⁰But they could not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward.
  - ⁶⁴“You have said it,”^[aa] Jesus told him. “But I tell you, in the future^[ab] you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
  - He has blasphemed! … “He deserves death!”
- Mt 26:69-75 Peter denies Christ three times

    - ⁷⁰But he denied it in front of everyone: “I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
    - ⁷²And again he denied it with an oath, “I don’t know the man!”

      - Immediately a rooster crowed,
      - ⁷⁵and Peter remembered the words Jesus had spoken, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”

  Mt 21:1-13 Parable of the Ten Virgins
  - 10 had lamps
  - 5 brought oil
  - 10 fell asleep
  - all were awakened
  - 5 had oil to trim their lights, as time had delayed the groom, and their oil was running very low.
  - the other 5 did not have the oil, and had to go get oil
  - While out getting the oil – the groom came and the oily 5 went in
  - The “foolish” ones were not allowed entrance because they were not ready.
  - ¹³“Therefore be alert, because you don’t know either the day or the hour.
- Mt 25:14-39 Parable of the Ten Talents
  - Man of Means going on a journey
    - He called his own slaves and turned over his possessions to them.
    - ¹⁵To one he gave five talents;^[c] to another, two; and to another, one—to each according to his own ability.

  - ABOMINATION THAT CAUSES DESOLATION

    - ²¹For at that time there will be great tribulation, the kind that hasn’t taken place from the beginning of the world until now and never will again!
    - ²²Unless those days were limited, no one would^[i] survive.^[j] But those days will be limited because of the elect.
  - FALSE PROPHETS AND FALSE MESSIAHS
    - ²⁴False messiahs^[k] and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵Take note: I have told you in advance.
  - RETURN OF CHRIST
    - ²⁷For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
  - AFTER TRIBULATION
    - The sun will be darkened,
      and the moon will not shed its light;
      the stars will fall from the sky,
      and the celestial powers will be shaken.
    - ³⁰“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth^[m] will mourn;^[n] and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
    - ³¹He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
    - This passage alone supports the post tribulation rapture of the saints.
  - The Fig Tree lesson
    - ³³In the same way, when you see all these things, recognize^[o] that He^[p] is near—at the door!
    - ³⁵Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.
- Mt 24:36-44 No one knows the time
  - ³⁶“Now concerning that day and hour no one knows—neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son^[q] —except the Father only.
  - I wish we’d all been ready tells this passage of scripture

  - Prayer time JESUS WAS ALONE
    - ²³After dismissing the crowds, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone.
  - Danger arose- JESUS WAS WATCHING
    - ²⁴But the boat was already over a mile^[h] from land,^[i] battered by the waves, because the wind was against them.
  - JESUS DIDN’T COME RIGHT AWAY
    - ⁵Around three in the morning,^[j] He came toward them walking on the sea.
  - FRIGHTENED MORE OF THE GHOST!
  - JESUS CALMED THEIR FEARS
    - ²⁷Immediately Jesus spoke to them. “Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
  - PETER WALKS ON WATER
    - ²⁸“Lord, if it’s You,” Peter answered Him, “command me to come to You on the water.”
    - ²⁹“Come!” He said.
    - And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus.
  - PETER LOOKS AT THE STORM
    - ³⁰But when he saw the strength of the wind,^[k] he was afraid. And beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
  - JESUS REPRIMANDS, BUT SAVES
    - ³¹Immediately Jesus reached out His hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
  - THEN THE STORM CEASED!
    - ³²When they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
  - Peter stepped out of the boat in faith WHILE IN THE MIDST OF A STORM!
  - ³³Then those in the boat worshiped Him and said, “Truly You are the Son of God!”
- Mt 14:34-36 – Touch the tassel
  - ³⁴Once they crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret.
  - ³⁶They were begging Him that they might only touch the tassel on His robe. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.
    - Sounds like the woman with the issue of blood!
      - Luke 8:43-48
        
        ⁴³A woman suffering from bleeding for 12 years, who had spent all she had on doctors^[a] yet could not be healed by any, ⁴⁴approached from behind and touched the tassel of His robe. Instantly her bleeding stopped.

Mindful Meditating

choose a verse,
set a timer for 5 minutes, or whatever works for you.
example: Matt 14:27
repeat to yourself, and at each word, enunciate the next word in the sentence starting with the first word…

example:

²⁷Immediately Jesus spoke to them. “Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
IMMEDIATELY Jesus spoke to them. “have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.
JESUS spoke to them, have courage! it is I. Don’t be afraid,
Jesus SPOKE to them, have courage, it is I, don’t be afraid
Jesus spoke TO them, have courage, it is I, don’t be afraid.
Jesus spoke to ME, have courage, it is I, don’t be afraid.

…and so on. This will cause you to look at the verse more intently, and may have you memorize it before your five minutes are done.
